Jr. Developer (Hybrid - NC)

Optomi, in partnership with one of the world's largest automotive financial services companies, is seeking a Junior Developer for a hybrid role for its Charlotte, NC location. Candidates must have experience coding with Javascript or Typescript, as well as experience with basic API testing. This Junior Developer will ideally have experience with Playwright and a passion for getting into Dev/QA.

What the right candidate will enjoy:

• Working at the intersection of software development and quality engineering, in a role that goes well beyond traditional QA scripting.
• Using AI tools like Claude Code and MCP server integrations as a core part of the daily engineering workflow.
• Building out a TypeScript, Playwright, and Cucumber automation framework for a Salesforce Lightning Omni-Channel application.
• Contributing architecture ideas and shaping how quality is built, with room to grow into more dev work down the road.
• Collaborating across engineering, product, and business stakeholders as an active member of a Scrum team.

Experience of the right candidate:

• Proficiency in TypeScript (ES6+), with 1 to 3 years of hands-on development or QA experience.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright for end-to-end test automation.
• Experience with Cucumber / Gherkin BDD syntax.
• Familiarity with GitLab, including version control, CI/CD pipelines, and merge requests.
• Basic API testing or coding experience using tools like Insomnia or Postman.
• Comfortable working in Jira and Confluence in an agile environment, with strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Salesforce Lightning CRM, SOQL/SQL, or JSforce experience is a big plus, but not required.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, prompt engineering, and MCP server usage.

Responsibilities of the right candidate:

• Contribute to and expand the automation testing repository for the Salesforce Lightning Omni-Channel application using TypeScript, Playwright, Cucumber, and JSforce.
• Use JSforce and optimized SOQL queries to support test data setup, validation, and debugging.
• Perform API validation and exploratory testing with tools such as Insomnia.
• Integrate and maintain test pipelines in GitLab CI/CD to give the engineering team fast, reliable feedback.
• Leverage AI tools as a core part of the daily workflow to accelerate development and improve output quality.
• Proactively identify automation gaps, technical debt, and quality risks, and drive them to resolution.
• Propose improvements to the test automation framework to raise quality standards and maintainability.
• Partner with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, and contribute to documentation in Confluence and task tracking in Jira.
