School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT)

Company: Focal Point Medical Staffing
Location: New York City — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island
Pay: $85 per hour for either discipline
Anticipated Hours: Approximately 24 hours per week, 4 Days per week
Setting: On-site school assignments during school-day hours

Focal Point Medical Staffing is building its talent pool of experienced Occupational Therapists for several school-based openings.

We welcome qualified clinicians interested in helping students develop independence, access their learning environment, and reach their educational goals.

Placements are subject to client approval, assignment availability, and completion of onboarding requirements.

Applicants must be licensed as an Occupational Therapist.

Compensation and Schedule

• $85 per hour.
• Assignments of approximately 24 hours per week.
• School-day schedules; specific days, locations, and hours vary.
• Employer-sponsored benefits are not offered for these positions at this time. Any legally required leave or benefits will be provided.
• Assignment details and compensation terms will be reviewed before acceptance.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluations and individualized therapy within your licensed discipline.
• Develop and implement treatment plans aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), as applicable.
• Deliver individual and/or group services according to authorized schedules.
• Complete accurate, timely evaluations, treatment notes, and progress reports.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, special education staff, and other related-service providers.
• Participate in IEP and student planning meetings as required.
• Recommend strategies, accommodations, and adaptive equipment to support student participation.
• Maintain student confidentiality and follow professional standards and school policies.

Occupational Therapist Duties

Support fine motor and visual motor skills, sensory regulation, classroom participation, and school-related daily living skills.

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State license and current NYSED registration as an Occupational Therapist.
• At least one year of professional experience in your licensed discipline.
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks and pre-employment drug screening, consistent with applicable law.
• Ability to obtain and maintain fingerprint clearance and any school or district authorization required for the assignment.
• Completion of applicable New York child-abuse identification/reporting and child-abuse-in-an-educational-setting training requirements.
• Ability to meet assignment-specific health clearance and onboarding requirements before starting.
• Strong communication, documentation, organization, and time-management skills.
• Availability to provide services on-site during assigned school hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatric or school-based therapy experience.
• Experience providing IEP-based services and documenting student progress.
• Experience supporting students with autism, developmental delays, or other disabilities.
